Norway – Bali Friendship Day

24/03/2009 // On 20 March, three Norwegian academic institutions offering training courses in Bali for Norwegian students organized a social event in cooperation with the Norwegian Embassy in Jakarta. There was massive participation from teachers and students from Norwegian schools Gateway College, Go Study and Kulturakademiet, as well as from the Udayana University of Bali.

 

 

 

 

 

 


 

Students prepared for heavy showers of rain, fortunately it didn't last long.

The number of Norwegians coming to Bali, either as students or as tourists, is constantly increasing. This year around 8 000 Norwegian tourists will be visiting and in total close to 800 Norwegians studying at this beautiful island.

In that respect, three Norwegian academic institutions currently offering training courses for Norwegian students in the Jimbaran and Kuta areasl together with the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Jakarta organized a social event which included a football tournament for students. The event, entitled “Norway – Bali Friendship Day”, is planned to become an annual event to promote even further relations between Bali and Norway.

The Norwegian Ambassador, HE Eivind S. Homme delivered the opening remarks at the event before it was officially opened by Deputy Chief of Police, Brigadeer General I Ketut Adria. As a result of an exchange program between Gateway College and the Udayana University of Bali, a number of teachers and students from the Udayana Universitu of Bali were present together with Vice rector Professor Dr. I Gede Putu Wirawan. The Norwegian Honorary Consul, Mrs Mira Chandra and Norwegians permanently residing in Bali as well as other Indonesian partners and friends were also invited.
