“A Doll’s House” by Henrik Ibsen (Rumah Boneka) goes to Bandung!

Last updated: 18/04/2012 // With renewed support from the Norwegian Embassy, producer Faiza Mardzoeki is now presenting “Rumah Boneka” at the Taman Budaya Bandung on 25-26 April, 2012.

Institut Ungu and Pentas Indonesia presented successfully the play by Henrik Ibsen’s “A Doll’s House” (Rumah Boneka) on stage at Gedung Kesenian Jakarta during 30 November-4 Desember, with an audience of 1700 over 5 consecutive nights. “Rumah Boneka” is an adaptation and translation by Faiza Mardzoeki, who was also producer. The Jakarta production was directed by Wawan Sofwan

Institut Ungu and Pentas Indonesia are working with Main Teater and are being supported by sponsors including Galeri Nasional, Yongki Kumaladi and media partners such as Bandung TV, Urban Radio, RRI, Global Radio and Sindo Radio. The theatre presentation will also be supported by a pre-performance seminar on the theme: “Henrik Ibsen’s Realism and Women in Theatre”.

In the Bandung presentation, the central role of Nora is being played by well-known local Bandung actress, Heliana Sinaga. All the other roles are being played by actors from the Jakarta production, namely: Ayez Kassar,Teuku Rifnu Wikana, Ayu Dyah Pasha, Willem Bevers dan Pipien Putri. In the Jakarta production, the role of Nora was played alternately by Chantal Della Concetta and Maya Hasan, whose other agendas has meant they are not available for the Bandung production. Heliana Sinaga is well-known in Bandung, having been active in the theatre scene in many roles. She was also part of the production team, for the Jakarta production of “Rumah Boneka”.
