Moland and Danish scriptwriter Kim Fupz Aakeson were presented with the honour. “The reception has been overwhelming, both from audiences and press,” said Moland. A Somewhat Gentle Man was his second contender for Berlin’s Golden bear, after his US-Vietnamese drama, The Beautiful Country, produced by Terrence Malick and Edward R Pressman, in 2004. The Stellan Skarsgård starrer will be released domestically on 19 March by Nordisk Film Distribusjon. The Finn Gjerdrum-Stein B Kvae production for Paradox was launched at the festival’s European Film Market by Denmark’s TrustNordisk, and immediately licensed to Benelux (Wild Bunch Benelux), CIS-Baltic Republics (Maywin Media) and Poland (Vivarto). Festivals are handled by the Norwegian Film Institute. www.berlinale.de www.nfi.no/search (download photos with the password: uffda)
