Norway’s International Climate and Forest Initiative evaluated

Last updated: 09/05/2011 // Norway’s minister of environment and international development, Mr. Erik Solheim launched the first of a series of real-time evaluations of Norway’s International Climate and Forest Initiative 28th April.

The results show that the Norwegian initiative has stimulated policy development both internationally and in tropical forest countries. Minister Erik Solheim said that he thinks forest and climate is one of the areas where Norway can help contribute to positive change the world.

The evaluation reports have been commissioned by the evaluation department of the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (Norad). A group of consultants, led by the British company LTS International has conducted the real-time evaluation. The reports give an overview of the progress and achievement of the Climate and Forest Initiative since it was initiated in 2008 and gives recommendations for future work. Indonesia is one of five countries that have been evaluated.
