Norwegian ships being built in Indonesia

10/03/2009 // Norway's ambassador to Indonesia, Mr. Eivind S. Homme, accompanied by Mr. Tor Fjæran, Chairman of Indonesia Norway Business Council (INBC) visited Batam Island on 27th February to promote the commercial ties between Norway and Indonesia.

At PT BATAMEC shipyard they were received by Mr. Tom Chua, General Manager, who together with his colleagues informed about their longstanding and extensive cooperation with Norwegian shipowners, designers and producers of marine and offshore equipment.

Presently PT BATAMEC is building  a total of 14 ships for Norwegian shipowners. 9 sophisticated North Sea class offshore;  4 vessels for Mosvold, 4 for GC Rieber, 1 for Norshore Shipping and 5 remaining vessels for RKOffshore. The North Sea class vessels are designed by the renowned Norwegian designers Marinteknikk and Vik-Sandvik.
