Annual General Meeting of INBC

29/06/2010 // The Indonesia Norway Business Council (INBC) recently held its Annual General Meeting. The Embassy received the following notice from INBC regarding the new Board and upcoming events.

Notice  to  the  Norwegian  Community  and  Colleagues  in  Indonesia

I.N.B.C. held its Annual General Meeting on 24th June 2010 and the new Board made some very important decisions affecting the future of the organisation.  Firstly, the Board, whose Members shall hold office until the 2011 Annual General Meeting, consists of:

President  -  Tor Fjæran                                                 Vice-President  -  Adji Sujianto

Treasurer  -  Bjørn Abraham Bache                           Executive Director  -  Peter Vaughan

Other Members  -  Budhi Tirto        Dagfinn Kvammen        Lennart Stockman

Advisors  -  H.E. Eivind Homme  plus  Embassy Representative, Constantin Karamé

KADIN (Jakarta Chamber of Commerce & Industry) Advisor  - to be appointed.

The Board has decided to review the structure of I.N.B.C. to determine which is the most appropriate form of organisation to take it into the future.  Yayasan (Foundation) status already exists and a specialist Committee has been formed to review and recommend the optimum way forward for a business council.  Following that, the Board shall revise its Constitution for recommendation to Members at a future Special General Meeting.

The program for the remainder of 2010 includes a prominent Guest Speaker dinner, organised in co-operation with the Danish Business Association, plus the most prominent event of the year – the first Norwegian Seafood dinner featuring V.I.P’s from Norway.  These two dinners are open to all persons  -  Members, their Partners / Spouses, “Friends of I.N.B.C.” and their business colleagues.  The program for Jakarta is:

8th Sept.               Shipping & Port Laws Dinner       with Guest Speaker  (Sponsor  - Mærsk Line)

6th Oct.                  INTSOK Delegation from Norway  -  Networking Evening

5th Nov.                Norwegian Seafood Feature Dinner  (Sponsor  -  Royal Norwegian Embassy)

19th Nov.              President’s  Dinner  -  Members and Spouses / Partners only

15th Dec.              Annual Christmas Buffet for Members  -  (Sponsor  -  Norwegian Ambassador).

In the first part of 2011 there shall be an Anti-Corruption / K.P.K. Future Directions dinner, an Oil & Gas Exploration dinner and a Climate Change seminar & dinner.  Again, these dinners will feature prominent Guest Speakers and all persons are welcome to attend and share the subsidised benefits I.N.B.C. Members enjoy.

To foster the bilateral aspect of Indonesian / Norwegian trade, a tourism and business investment seminar and exhibition will be held in Bali in 2011.  This will give Indonesian provinces, with support from the Ministry of Tourism & Travel in Jakarta and the Indonesian Embassy in Oslo, the opportunity for Indonesia to showcase its business and tourism potential by attracting participants from Norway as well as locally.  There will be an exhibition plus a seminar and a dinner on the Friday, and it will conclude with a plenary session on the Saturday.

I.N.B.C. also has Networking Evenings on Wednesdays throughout the year.  These are more casual events enabling networking for Members and Guests.  Being a Member of I.N.B.C. entitles both Corporate and Private Members, with their Spouses / Partners to attend all events at discounted rates and the Board hopes that this will prove attractive to all persons who wish to join I.N.B.C. and share in our Nordic camaraderie.  Non-residents of Jakarta, when visiting here, are particularly welcome to our events.

This program aims to achieve a fundamental aim of I.N.B.C. – to enhance business relationships between Indonesia and Norway.  If you are not a Member, please seriously consider joining.  The new Board encourages you to do so by contacting the Secretariat, and we are confident that you will find the experience very worthwhile.
