Energy markets: Seminar and workshop in Bali

Last updated: 18/10/2010 // CCOP - Lemigas and Petrad arranged a workshop on ‘Mapping of Potential Reservoir for CCS & Selection Criteria’, 28-30 September 2010 followed by a one day CCOP-ASCOPE-Petrad Meeting to Develop a Project Concept for a Regional Program on CO2-CCS Challenges, 1 October 2010, Bali, Indonesia.

The objectives of the workshop was to enhance the capacities of the CCOP Member Countries for a sustainable energy policy with Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) into the geological formation as part of the solution to global climate change. The workshop focused on identifying geological reservoir with potential for CCS and criteria for the selection of these potential reservoirs.

There were a total of 52 participants from Government Agencies and National Oil Companies from East and South East Asia.

The workshop was opened by Ambassador EIVIND S. HOMME and DR. IR. USMAN PASARAI, Acting Head of R & D Division for Exploitation Technology, R & D Center for Oil and Gas Technology “LEMIGAS”.

The workshop had the following speakers and resource persons: PROF. PER AAGAARD, Professor, Department of Geosciences, University of Oslo, MR. OLAVUR ELLEFSEN, Founder and Managing Director, Simprentis, MR. TOR FJǼRAN, President Director, Statoil Indonesia, MS. EVA HALLAND, Project Director, Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD), DR. TERJE MARTIN HALMØ, representing University of Stavanger, International Research Institute of Stavanger (IRIS) and Risavika Gas Centre,  DR. PER CHRISTER LUND, Counselor Science and Technology Innovation Norway, Royal Norwegian Embassy, Tokyo and DR. LEE DAE SUNG, Senior Researcher, Korea Institute of Geoscience and Mineral Resources (KIGAM)

*  CCOP is the organization for the Government Agencies responsible for the Geosciences in 12 countries in East and South East Asia.
**ASCOPE is the organization for the National Oil Companies in 9 countries in South East Asia.
