Women Empowerment

Gender equality and improving women’s rights and possibility to fully participate in the political and economic life is prerequisite for Timor-Leste to achieve its development aspirations. While Timor-Leste has now emerged from decades of conflict, Timorese women continue to struggle both in the aftermath of conflict and in the fight for equality, social, economic and political rights. Norway is committed to support efforts that empower women.
