The Gadjah Mada University and University of Agder (Norway) collaborate on a project called 'Transparency in Local Governments'. The project has two features:
1. research on local level governance in order to gain knowledge on administrative and political processes
2. dissemination of this knowledge to the civil society for improved governance at district levels.
The focus is on transparency and accountability in the bureaucracy and in politics. The project started in 2005 and will finish in 2008. In 2008 the project will receive approximately 180,000 USD from Norway.
