The project 'International Cooperation for Helping Countries facing an Illegal Logging Crisis' focuses on how to reduce illegal logging in Indonesia by applying an ‘integrated approach’ which not only looks at the forestry sector itself, but also money-laundering, corruption, and the financial structures which make illegal logging possible.
The project will identify hindrances in law enforcement, and provide assistance to relevant actors to address these. It is a national project implemented by the Center for International Research on Forestry (CIFOR).
CIFOR is one of the most prominent actors figthing against illegal logging in Indonesia. Norway will support this project for three years, starting in 2007. During this period, the project will receive approximately 600,000 USD.
